a magazine cover and a sold out show
the nature of this industry is a rollercoaster, predictability is not really a thing. sometimes there’s months of nothing happening and then a day or two where everything happens. this was one of those weekends where everything happened. we went to whistler a night before my show to film a video for my next single. we picked up the other artist from the airport and filmed at random locations on the drive. she came camera ready and we just got right into it. the weather gods were on our side, and none of us could stop commenting about our luck.
i played a surprise show for whistler staff at the top of the mountain, so we figured, let’s film shots for the video on the gondola ride up. the party was incredible, peaking as a flurry of snow came down with everyone dancing into the night. we came back to the hotel after and continued to film at random hotel locations and in the wilderness.
the following day we shot on the lake, which, i think… was safe. maybe. we could sort of feel it melting beneath us, and half of us felt it was fine and the other half was…. undecided. regardless, we got the shots and lived to tell the tale. sometimes you gotta push it a bit i guess. that night was the main show, my whistler show that had been sold out for a few weeks. it was a 360 setup and completely insane, the crowd energy was unreal. we premiered the song we had been filming for all weekend, and Lights was randomly in town and hyped shit up when i played Love Me. we filmed the entire set, so subscribe if u wanna be notified of the drop.
i came home exhausted but more creatively fulfilled than i’ve felt in a long time. i opened my mailbox to find the hard copies of the cover i shot for Vancouver Magazine. which featured the pop up we threw on the skytrain. it turned out great and i’m feeling very grateful!
